The Horizon bridge was exploited for $100 million

As announced by the Harmony protocol on its Twitter page, the popular crypto bridge Horizon was hacked and lost 85,837 ETH, worth around $100 million.

The theft was noticed by the Harmony team which has begun working with forensic specialists to identify the attacker and retrieve the stolen funds still being held in their entirety in the attacker’s already identified wallet, at the time of writing this article. The Harmony team has sent a message to the attacker's wallet stating they are interested in negotiating.

Harmony claims this incident doesn’t impact the trustless BTC bridge, whose funds are stored on decentralized vaults. However, the Horizon bridge has been stopped to prevent further transactions, and exchanges have been notified regarding the incident to prevent the perpetrator from trading with the stolen funds while the team investigates the issue.
