Donald Trump’s first NFT collection sells out immediately

Despite formerly voicing his dislike for cryptocurrencies, Donald Trump announced the launch of his NFT collection consisting of 45,000 “Trump Digital Trading Cards”. Divided into various rarity formats, each collector who gets 45 NFTs is guaranteed a Gala Dinner with Trump in South Florida and other benefits, such as 45 entries into a sweepstake with “thousands of prices”.

The announcement came through Trump’s social media platform Truth Social, currently available only to USA users. According to it, the digital images found in the collection feature art from Donald Trump’s “Life & Career”. Some of them depict the former US President as a superhero, like a character from a popular computer game standing in front of a “Trumpworld” sign, as a racecar driver, and even as a cosmonaut.

Selling for just $99, the NFTs from the collection sold out immediately after they were released. Besides holding the NFTs and waiting to get chosen for some of the events from the sweepstake, such as a one-on-one Zoom call with Donald Trump, or a private golf session with the former President, collectors can also trade them, however, trades are subject to a 10% royalties fee.

In the 24 hours following its mint, the collection has managed to amass 545 ETH (a bit over $67,000) in total trading volume on OpenSea, it’s current floor price is 0.0937 ETH or about $113.50 based on current market prices, and it is currently spread among 14,168, or 31% unique owners.

The most expensive Donald Trump Trading Card sold so far is #8314, a black and white image of Donald Trump wearing a suit and a Christmas hat, standing in a corridor with a Christmas tree at the end of it. The NFT got sold for 1.25 ETH or $1,514 on OpenSea.
