What Is The Degenerate Ape Academy V2?

The Degenerate Ape Academy (DAA) has once again become the talk of the NFT community with its recent unveiling of a V1 to V2 transition. As buzz grows within the Solana NFT world, many are seeking answers about the swap. Here's a straightforward guide addressing some of the top questions.

What Does the Transition to Degenerate Ape Academy's V2 Involve?

DAA offers ape owners the choice to transition from their V1 ape NFT to a V2 version, ensuring their original traits remain intact. The result? Two distinct collections: the legacy V1 apes and the innovative V2 "Higher self" apes. The V2 designs stand out with an updated fur texture and a unique aura, contrasting the original V1 versions.

How Are Traits Managed and What's the New Reward System?

In addition to visual enhancements, DAA has plans to introduce fresh ape traits via the "Harambes auction house." Rather than a straightforward purchase, these will be available through a rewards-based bidding system. Owners of apes can expect daily "Opals" rewards, provided through a noncustodial staking platform, as long as their assets remain staked and aren't listed for sale.

As for changing traits, while they can be altered or overlaid, complete removal will not be possible. Additionally, owners will have the capability to shift traits between NFTs by unequipping and reapplying them.

When and How Can You Participate in the DAA V1 to V2 Swap?

For those considering the transition from V1 to V2, take note that it's scheduled for 00:00 UTC today. The transition comes with a fee of $4.20. Early birds, specifically the first 690 participants, will receive a trait pack, including a new mouth and two random V2 traits.

More insights will be provided tonight by DAA during their weekly Twitter spaces event. Additionally, the Degenerate Ape Academy team will be releasing a video covering the whole event soon. To keep up with real-time updates, make sure to follow DAA's official Twitter account.
