Arbitrum’s new chain Arbitrum Nova went live on mainnet

Offchain Labs the New York-based company behind Arbitrum has announced the launch of its new chain Arbitrum Nova, which will be primarily focused on social applications and gaming dApps, while Arbitrum One will remain as a solution for NFT and DeFi apps. Arbitrum is an Ethereum-powered platform leveraging various layer-2 solutions through the optimistic rollup technology.

With the launch of Arbitrum Nova, there will be two separate Arbitrum chains operating on the Arbitrum mainnet in parallel, that “together can support just about every blockchain use case”.

Offchain Labs developed Arbitrum Nova using its new AnyTrust technology, which is optimized for lower fees, faster transaction speeds, and stronger security measures, according to the blog post. Arbitrum One will remain as the chain operating based on the optimistic rollup technology.

“Nova is perfect for projects with cost-sensitive, high transaction volume expectations like games that frequently mint new items or currency or social projects with many different levers for on-chain interaction”, the blog post reads.

Offchain Labs further announced that developers wishing to deploy their apps on Arbitrum Nova may now apply for access, however, the platform will have limited public access for the following two weeks to give developers time to onboard.
